The Beach House season 2003, got off to quite a wet start this year. Could it have been the worst weather memorial weekend ever? I submit the answer to be 'Yes'.
Friday :
Jess and Seth arrived at the house first to open it up and move in some beds. After promptly taking apart and rearranging all the furtniture in each bedroom, some other housemates arrived. First Sean and Vita and then Andrew and Marisa. The first beach house meal was taken in at O'Neills, then a stop off at Acme, and we headed back to the house to wait for everyone else to arrive and pass the time . . . drinking.
Friday night's festivities took the house to Leggetts. Everyone was wet from the walk over, and then packed in like sardines in the over-crowded local establishment. Seth was the first to leave the bar and promptly pass out back at the house, and Kathy and Kathleen were the first to get lost trying to find the house on the way back. At some point during the night, once everyone was back, 2 lamps were broken in the mini-room, and Laura (the 1st guest), had tried to climb the washer and dryer downstairs in an attempt to get back upstairs. (See the Summer Quote page.)
Saturday :
After the hungover housemates finally all staggered downstairs, it was time for one of the favorite beach house activities....eating. The house split up in different shifts to patronize different shore eateries. Once most people arrived back at the house, another favortie beach house activity kicked in....gambling. The weather was not cooperating, so after a few games, setting a few ant traps, and a few showers, the final favorite house activity began.....drinking. That led us to Edgar's Pub. We met up with our Pt. Pleasant Friends (PPF's) to celebrate PPF-Deepa's birthday and ran into some other Manasquan-friends. The music was rocking, the hips were cross-checking, the drinks were dissappearing, and the ladies were in full force. (Note to self, go back to Edgar's.) Bob came down for the night, but once again, stayed only a few hours before retreating back to northern jersey for some much needed Bob-Time. Oh yeah, and Chris S. FTFP slept through the entire night.
Sunday :
After Chris S. FTFP returned from his 4am-8am trip to and from Hoboken with donuts, the housemates again slowly arose from the deep slumber of alcohol induced sleep. After some favorite actitives of eating and gambling, the stir-craziness peaked with a game of "Let's see who can name the most U.S. Presidents." Does Salmon 560 know how to party or what? (Congrats to Kathy, by the way....who knew Hamilton wasn't a president.) After the sun failed to show up at 3pm, most decided to nap or drink. Sunday night took us to the Parker House. Did we actually make it there with the whole house by 7pm? (Note to self, if line for upstairs in too long, walk in the downstairs, and go up the back stairs.) Long lost housemate Anthony actually finally made an appearance out at the Parker House. Chris S. FTFP (Phantom Sleeping Bear) was once again back in his cave getting some much deserved sleep. Good crowd at the Parker House, not terribly crowded, and everyone ended up on the dancefloor. Who could have asked for anything more? (Well, maybe Dave.) After leaving the Parker House, and bailing on late night at Leggetts, many of us realized it had been only a few hours since we ate, so we stopped for a late night pizza run.
Monday :
At this point, most people were ready to ask for their refund for the beach house. After several people packed up their cars in a near-typhoon, brunch was sought and the housemates started to drop like flies. There was still time for some last minute gambling and eating however. Congrats to Chris and Seth for sticking it out till 8:30pm on Monday. (What were we thinking? No TV, no beer, make us go....something something.)
The word on the street was that everyone had a great weekend despite the crappiest weather ever. What will be in store come next weekend?
- Will Bryan find his smile?
- Will Chris see the inside of a bar?
- Will the toliet explode again?
- Will Jess be to blame?
- Will Kathy finish that damn book?
- Will Seth make any more copies of the housekey?
- Will Anthony spend a night at his beach house?
Tune in next week and find out....
