In trying to figure out what to write about this weekend, I considered just writing "see above". But I suppose there are always a few things that stand-out in the fogged-over memories of weekends past.
Bryan and I started off the weekend with a knock-down battle of bottlecaps waiting for some housemates to interupt our boredom. Chris S. FTFP, Anthony, and Kathy arrived around 6pm. We thought it would be funny to duct-tape the kitchen sink sprayer "open" and attached to the cabinet aiming out. We were thinking that some drunk fool would come back late at night, grab a cup to get a drink of water, and get a facefull of water sprayed in their face. Who would have thought Anthony would walk right into the trap not 10 minutes after rigging it up, right as the taxi was pulling into the driveway. He quickly toweled off, jumped in the cab and we headed to happy hour at the Parker House. It was an enjoyable evening partyng with the Bud Light Party Patrol. Kathy, Bryan, and Seth eventually headed back to 'squan, while Anthony took Chris S. FTFP to DJai's for his first guido-experience. The 'squanners arrived back at Salmon560 to run into Jess F., Michele, and Pam. The ladies headed to Leggett's while the rest of us set down for a night of Z's.
Well-well, what did we have on Saturday? If you guessed....rain....you'd (for the first time) be WRONG! It was actually sunny and warm! Of course you'd think we'd all jump to get to the beach as soon as possible, right? Well, actually we never made it off our front deck. But it was a great day in the sun. We setup our beach chairs, put on our lotion, discussed viscosity, raised the I-talian flag, and enjoyed the first beautiful Saturday of the summer. A long lost housemate in Beth even showed up for an hour or two before leaving. Sean, Vita, and Bob joined the crew in the afternoon as well. Around 3pm, Chris S. FTFP and Anthony decided to play a game of chess out on the deck. Several people were apparently jealous of this activity and operation "let's go out and buy 3 more chess boards" launched into effect. The late afternoon progress with some beers and several ongoing chess games. By about 7pm, Anthony eventually beat Chris S. FTFP after their 4 hour marathon game. Roughly at this same time, it began to storm, and with the rain brought 2 surprise guests to our front door....Bob & Nancy, the owners of Salmon560. They just popped in to say hello, and tell us that they live in the house across the street during the summer. Excellent, what next? We (except for Michele and Pam) never made it out Saturday night, mostly due to various chess games, hungover housemates, pouring rain, and general house malaise.
Sunday began mostly sunny, but changed to overcast later in the day. Sean, Vita, Kathy and Seth headed to the actual beach for some early morning rays. Bob hit the pavement for a little 16 mile jog, Michele and Pam continued their marathon sleep, and the rest of the house ran out early for various other activities. (Excellent running puns, Seth.) The last long-lost housemate, Chuckles (and Maria too), found us on the beach........playing chess. (We are seriously extremely nerdy. What's next, D&D?) In the afternoon we tracked back to the house to grill up some hot dogs. (Michele and Pam were just awaking.) After some rest and relaxation, the house started to empty. I packed up my clothes with the memories of another fun weekend down at the Jersey Shore. Awww.....
