SUN!!!!!!!!!!!
For the first time this summer, the weekend was completely dry and it was actually sunny for all 3 days! And it's about time too!!! So let's get to it....
Friday was a scorcher! Dare I say it was too hot to sit outside? Andrew and Marisa made it to the beach early, but others like Anthony, Kathy, Charles, and myself, only made it to the deck.....and in small doses only. The preparations began for the evening ahead. With some gentle negotiations, the crew all jumped on the early boat, and we decided to hit the Parker House for some drinks and some mini-burgers on the back porch. We (Andrew, Anthony, Bob, Charles, Kathy, Marisa, Noreen, Seth and Shelley the realtor) probably didn't think the whole idea through entirely, because some of us, spent 30 minutes in the festeringly hot burger line, while others, relaxed off the porch. Eventually we headed back into the Parker House and began our libatious (is that a word?) evening. Around 9:30, we all left and headed over to Edgar's to meet up with the rest of the housemates (Bryan, Jess F., Kate, Michele, Pam and Rick) who arrived on the late bus. It was a blast to have a big group (15 of us?) together for the first time this summer. Well, all except for Phatom Sleeping Bear who slept another beachnight away. The music raged, the dancefloor shook, and red death frequently visited. Eventually everyone ended back at the house for the evening. Besides Rick trying to spoon multiple housemates, the evening came to a peaceful close.
Saturday everyone eventually awoke to another nice day outside. We were joined by Jess S. and Beth, and some other guests (Gretchen, Jen, Maria and Elaine). My presence was requested at several parties during the day, so I had to leave my housemates for the day. From what I hear, they all had fun and went to the beach. I went to my parents for my sis's b-day (or was it a graduation) party and then to Jed & Chelsea's engagement party. (Shout out to all the 2001 beachhouse peep!) I returned to the beachhouse around 9pm to find Jess F. and Bryan. The rest of the crew had headed out to the Parker House for another evening of debauchery. Phantom Sleeping Bear apparently even made it out, although since I didn't actually see it, I still don't believe it. The 3 of us remaining at the house were joined by some of Jess's peeps (and eventually Beth and Elaine), and we played a few hands of a$$hole before heading out to Leggett's. Sorry Beth, we were trying to work you guys into the game. We did find some beach house stragglers (Andrew, Jess S. and Marisa) at Leggett's once we all arrived. It was another typical night at Leggett's. Crowded, drunk, hot, and flashbulbs recording it all. CLICK HERE FOR THE PICTURES FROM LEGGETTS. Eventually we all made it back to the house and ate some pizza. Some of us with bruises from climbing sheds to retrieve stray flip-flops.
Sunday I awoke to some strange back pains (where'd they come from) and to the sounds of the Uncle Rick song. The remaining housemates made their way to the beach to enjoy the 3rd day in a row of beachtime. Jess F. learned a lesson on what happens when you take away the boy's frisbee and throw it into the ocean. After some sun-time, people started making their way back to the house. The crew split-up and Andrew and Seth cleaned the house from top to bottom, while Kathy, Marisa, and Noreen sat around gambling. Bryan and Jess hit Acme and brought back dinner supplies. While they were shopping Marisa and Seth put on a yoga exhibition for the remaining housemates. Yadda-yadda-yadda, I'm flying across the floor into the couch on a layer of sweat, blanketing the mat. (Words can't begin to do it justice, but perhaps the funniest moment of the summer to-date.) CLICK HERE FOR THE YOGA PICTURES. Anyhoo. Later, we grilled up the BBQ chicken, threw some corn in the pot, and opened the mayonaise-based salads. A delightful Sunday Night Dinner. (Might even give S.N.D.'s at Aldrin Drive a run for their money.) After dinner, we rushed to clean so we could make it to Dairy Queen before it closed....again. Eight blizzards later, we were back at the house. I said goodbye to the posse, saddled up, and rode off into the moonset.
Another memorable weekend at Salmon 560.
